Join us for fun at our regular monthly meeting. The doors open at 6:15 and the meeting starts at 6:45.
Lisa Coulombe, a native of Maine, was a Navy wife and thus, has traveled extensively and lived on both coasts and in the Middle East. Several years ago she and her husband Pierre moved to Sun City West and Lisa joined PVP.
Lisa began quilting in 1989, making a sampler baby quilt. Moving on to miniatures, which were very popular at the time, she soon tried her hand at vests and jackets. It wasn’t long before every new quilting technique she learned was put through the “how would this work in a jacket” test.
The jackets Lisa creates are what she considers to be very wearable, nothing too fancy or off-the-wall. She wears one of her unique jackets whenever the weather allows, to the grocery store, to church or to quilt shows. She enjoys creating clothing for specific occasions such as holidays or family events.
In the past, Lisa taught five quilting classes a week for Palomar Community College, designing all her quilts from scratch. She has presented numerous quilt guild fashion shows throughout Southern California, selecting 40 of her favorite jackets from her wardrobe of more than 80 jackets and coats. She has been published in McCall’s Quilting magazine several times and is a three-time Bernina Fashion Show designer.
