QUILT SHOW CHALLENGE
Log Cabin Your Way!
Here are some variations to get your creative juices flowing: Customization in Block Construction: Center Shape: While traditionally a square, use another shape like a triangle, diamond, or other shapes (e.g. hexagons, trapezoids) for the center. Number and Width of “Logs”: Choose how many rounds of fabric strips (logs) to use; alter the widths. Color Choices: Log Cabin blocks use a balance of light and dark fabrics, often with a red center for the hearth. Try a unique color combination, including multiple colors within a block or different shades of the same color. Customization in Quilt Layout: Arrangement of Blocks: Arrange the individual Log Cabin blocks to create many different overall quilt designs including barn raising, courthouse steps, on point, asymmetrical, stars, zigzags or pinwheels to name a few. Incorporate Other Blocks: Combine Log Cabin blocks with other quilt blocks to create unique designs Put your talents to work and join the festivities.
Guidelines to the challenge are:
